OMG! I just got a HUGE stollen as a gift!

Our bookstore is next to a small Euro-style deli run by the NICEST 55-60ish native-born German lady, and we've become friends, as well as neighbors. Earlier this morning, I had to shovel our sidewalk and, while I was at it, I just went ahead and shoveled and swept hers as well, since she wasn't there yet.

Just a few minutes ago she came in bearing an ENORMOUS one of these and a bottle of apple brandy, just to say 'thank you' for cleaning her walk:



I'm tempted to eat some now, but I'll save it until I get home.

2. She's really great.

Some days,things get so hectic that it's difficult to even slip out and pick up lunch, so she will just drop it over, complete with REAL china and flatware. On top of that, she always includes some 'goody' that she 'wants our opinion on' before she adds it to her menu.
