I was listening to Zappa earlier today to ward off hokey commercial Christmas-eve sentiment but music from the 1920s and 1930s has very well-crafted arrangements that can't be cheapened.

38. Christmas carols

I usually spend Christmas Eve with my best friend & her family, and since she lives in Memphis, her flight home on Wednesday, and consequently yesterday, was cancelled. After spending the entire day in the airport with her husband & 8 month old, she was able to leave at 8 pm (EST), and arrived in Boston an hour ago. She's en route to the Cape now. We've been best friends since Kindergarten (29 years now), and Christmas is our THING.

I am just so freaking happy she is home, and I'm home, drinking egg nog (with brandy), and getting psyched to do Christmas with her & my godson this weekend!!!!!

On a completely separate note, she & her husband (both from the Cape), caught progressive fever from me & worked hard to get Mempians to vote Kerry!!!
