I have just been caught by my 10yr old Santa believing daughter!

She didn't catch you with the presents, so it's possible you just add to stockings! That's what I'd say. That you were just adding one/two items, but that S. of course was the main man.

My kid has a weird believe in Santa/not.

I blame that on the public schools. :silly:

At school they pimp Santa, all her friends believe in Santa, but I tell her he isn't real and ask her what she wants me to buy.
So she's come up with a complex contract that Santa has with parents.

Plus, I think she might not mention it at all.

There is a small chance that she's suspecting he's not real and that's why you got the weird look... but I'd let her take the lead on the whole thing.

It's just a theory, but I never let my parents know that I didn't believe in Santa anymore. I'm sure they figured by the time I hit Jr. High that I'd probably caught on, but I'm also sure they couldn't pinpoint an age when I stopped believing. I'm 22 now and my only sibling is 19 and we still leave cookies and milk out for Santa (he brings us a box of apples to munch on while we open our family presents). Pretending to believe in Santa Claus is just part of Christmas. :)

2. I got caught

being the Easter Bunny one year but they figured out their own story so they continued to believe. Not only did they see me at 5AM hiding eggs the Easter Bunny left her coffee cup by the driveway and it was just like one we had! They continued to believe, they are funny that way.

7. I accidentally told my brother (when he was 6) that Santa wasn't real.

This was about 10 years ago, when I was 13 or so. I had (without any prior thinking-over) told him of the story of the REAL Saint Nicholas who lived and died in the 4th century. I had suddenly realized this, and then I told him that "Oh, but he came back to life in 1725."

He believed it without a hitch. Thank God he was only 6 at the time.

Tell her the truth. I had to tell mine the truth last Christmas.

If you aren't ready to do that, you should have told her that you were stealing some candy out of her stocking...that you had a sudden chocolate craving after you had heard Santa bumping around in the living room.

I told mine the truth, though. It didn't decrease the excitement one bit. As a matter of fact, we still pretend-believe in Santa, and it is really fun for both of us.

30. My daughter was ten when we told her..

She was furious with us for about a half a day. Instantly wanted to know what else we'd been lying about all those years. Then she kind of got into it and shifted to the fun of helping with the illusion for her little cousin. We warned my brother though, and then they decided to tell their older son, then 11, in case my daughter spilled it. We were all laughing about this a few hours ago when she told her boyfriend (now she's thirteen) about it. The Easter bunny and the tooth fairy soon followed. 34. I had the talk with my daughter when she was 7, I think. I didn't want

some kids at school to make fun of her, but I ALSO made her promise to never ever tell a wee one that Santa wasn't real, so that the fairy tale would be perpetuated until the time was right for THAT child.

But...friend...i'm sorry...I would be seriously surprised if your daughter still believes in Santa Clause at 10.

I was one of the last hanger-on's in my school when I was a kid...and I was 8 when I figured it out.

I think she may just be going along with you. Maybe she doesn't want to hurt YOUR feelings. Who knows. But still believing in Santa at 10? No offense but I would actually be worried if she does. A 10 year olds brain has developed enough to realize it just is not possible. I would be worried that she would be this naive as she grows up.

No...I'm pretty sure your daughter does not believe in Santa. I don't know your kid...but something tells me...she's got you...not the other way around.

38. My daughter really did still believe at ten, but I think

it was a matter of very strong faith, because she didn't believe we would lie to her, hence her anger at us when we told her. My nephew claims he believed when they told him (at eleven)when we told our daughter. I'm sure they'd heard it before from friends but didn't want to believe it was a lie. Certainly their brains would have questioned it, but faith does often overcome what logic won't allow.
