1. They were good back in the 1970s...
They had some good funky songs that are classics. I like them for the most part, but I don't listen to that kind of music a lot but I do occasionally.

3. Do you remember the 21st night of September?
fabulous song...

Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day

My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart to see you
Only blue talk and love,
Remember how we knew love was here to stay

Now December found the love that we shared in September.
Only blue talk and love,
Remember the true love we share today

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day

Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - golden dreams were shiny days

6. Saw them live a few times during the '70s!
The best live shows I ever saw.

Philip Bailey and Maurice White were amazing.

Probably the tightest funky music ever played on Earth!

The 'new' EWF is not as original or energetic (except for Verdine White on Bass Guitar). Philip now has help with the high-register singing.

Oh well, we all get old eventually.

I'LL WRITE A SONG FOR YOU
Al McKay, Philip Bailey & Steve Beckmeier

I thirst but never quench
I know the consequence, feeling as I do
We're in a spinning top
where, tell me, will it stop
and what am I to say
Open our music book, that only few can look
and I'll write a song for you

Love is a symphony, hearts in one melody
'Cause I write a song for you
Sounds never dissipate, they only recreate
in another place
There in your silent night
joy of a song's delight
I write a song for you
You write a song for me
We write a song for love

My magical mystique, finding it all complete
in a lovely face, feeling we try to chase
memories that won't erase, stay forever new
We have a magic box in which is never locked

:hi:
DemEx

edit: Found the text: The song that moves me so is....
Devotion

Thru devotion, blessed are the children
Praise the teacher, that brings true love to many
Your devotion, opens all life's treasures
And deliverance, from the fruits of evil.
So our mission, to bring a melody,
Ringin' voices sing sweet harmony

For you here's a song, to make your day brighter.
One that will last, you long thru troubled days.
Giving your heart the light to brighten.
All of the dark that falls in your way
You need devotion. bless the children
Deliverance from the fruits of evil

In everyone's life, there's a need to be happy.
Let the sun shine, a smile your way.

and this lovely song:
That's The Way Of The World

Maurice White, Charles Stepney & Verdine White

Hearts of fire creates love desire
Take you high and higher to the world you belong
Hearts of fire creates love desire
High and higher to your place on the throne

We¡¯ve come together on this special day
To sing our message loud and clear
Looking back we¡¯ve touched on sorrowful days
Future pass, they disappear

You will find peace of mind
If you look way down in your heart and soul
Don¡¯t hesitate ¡®cause the world seems cold
Stay young at heart ¡®cause you¡¯re never (never, never, ..) old at heart

That¡¯s the way of the world
Plant your flower and you grow a pearl
A child is born with a heart of gold
The way of the world makes his heart grow cold

This white chick has always loved R & B more than any other kind of music.

You can't listen to them and not have your mood lifted a little.

18. I grew up in a small town where most of the population was
of color; mostly the descendents of sharecroppers and migrant workers. There WAS no other music, for the most part (except country).

I also LOVE Tejano and Frontera music for the same reason; I grew up with it.

:et's put it this way: Wa-Mart moved in and stole my beloved town's soul. I literally cry when I go back there to see what has happened.

15. Love them!
My favorite of their albums is I Am. There's a little song on there that no one knows much about called Star (not Shining Star) that always lifts my spirit. That was what I most wanted to listen to on 9/11/01.

16. My favorite Maurice White photo...
I still love it!

Maurice kicking back in an easy chair... wearing jeans and a casual sweater... no shoes, just socks... and sporting a $20,000 Ebel Swiss watch!

How cool is that!

24. Well, I have my Reasons
Now, I'm craving your body,
Is this for real
Temperature rising, don't wanna feel
I'm in the wrong, place to be real
I'm longing to love you
If just for a night,
Kissing and hugging, holding you tight.
Please let me love you.
All my might
Reasons, reasons do I fear
Reasons that we hear.
Can't find a reason.
That my feeling don't disappear
And after this love game has been played,
All our illusions was a parade
And the reasons start to fade
In the morning, when I rise no longer
Feeling hypnotized.
I find my reason had no pride.

25. "AM Radio"
Any of you ever hear that song from Everclear? It's all about how great AM Radio used to be in the '70s. There were so many great bands that disappeared when AOR became king.

27. Great band "Fantasy" is my favorite
I went to see them about 8 years ago, we left the place singing, I kid you not. I've never seen that happen anywhere else, the crowd was so into the song (I can't remember which one) so much that when the band left the stage after the final encore the crowd just kept the song going. Right out through the exits.
