It left my wife & me talking about archetypes & mythic contents for hours. Watching the movie was like lifting the society's skullcap & peering into the seething collective unconscious of the current age. There was so much primary-process stuff in the movie that it felt like we had inadvertently walked into the REM sleep of the movie's creators.
Psychologists shouldn't see movies like that.

I'm an engineer, I didn't catch any of that stuff... :P
I think I enjoyed the production design most of all, though I liked the acting as well. Something with the directing & pacing seemed a little off to me for some reason. Overall, I enjoyed the film.

three books but Jim Carrey being Jim Carrey got in the way of Jim Carrey being the twisted Count Olaf. I still haven't figured out why Dustin Hoffman showed up at the end. His cameo served no purpose. The kid who portrayed Sunny, though, was perfect.
My eleven year old enjoyed it.
