A question about my new kitten

Two and a half weeks ago I got these two kittens. At first week they both acted normal, running, playing, wrestling, etc. Then about three days before Xmas the black one seems to have lost most of her energy. She just lies around most of the day now. Before she was always squiggling around...but now she is pretty lifeless for the most part. She is still eating and drinking ok. The vet who saw her yesterday said she might be developmentally delayed but she sure didn't act that way the first week. Any ideas?

1. I would bring her to another vet for a second opinion.

This vet does not sound like she knows what he/she's talking about.

Did they take a blood sample and a stool sample to check for anything? Did they give her any antibiotics? My vet probably would have given my cat a shot or something.

Kittens will often have worms - was she checked for worms?

2. I agree--if nothing was done or tested, get to a new vet ASAP. Try to

get a recommendation from someone if you do not know any reputable vets in your area. But your kitten is in jeopardy if simply by sight the vet made that diagnosis and did no more.

3. I agree with seeing another vet

That is NOT normal behavior. She needs a stool exam for parasites and blood work done at the very minimum.

4. Bring a stool sample to the vet w/you...see if there is blood in there

If she's eating and drinking okay it may be bowel problems.

5. "Failing kitten syndrome" can be a sign of Feline leukemia or

other disease. You definitely need to get another opinion.

6. Thanks, guys. I got a second opinion and the vet today

did a lot more than the one yesterday. Hopefully she will start to improve now.
