Neighbor from hell

Sigh.

He has a 5000 horse power straight pipe garden tractor/lawn mower/snow plow. He uses it whenever the spirit moves him day or night early or late. Oh and the leaf blower (300 horsepower)

He put a garden in his back yard a couple of years ago and was out there varmint hunting with a sawed off 22 caliber rifle (To no avail too many varmints) We live in a village the houses are side by side, plenty of children and pets in the area.

He has a scary looking dog which he allows to run loose.

Worst of all he has a pellet stove with a straight pipe out of the house. Right now the smoke sifting into my room and is burning my eyes and throat.

Darn it. Just a rant. I will suffer through it. Be a good neighbor. I guess.

to start off with. And I say this as one who has neighbors who are occasionally annoying -- drunk party every now and then, etc -- but the operative word there is OCCASIONAL.

If I were you I'd call animal control about the dog, and start finding things to bust him on with code enforcement. :evilgrin: One can only take so much....

Which I usually forget to try: In a relaxed (meditative) state, imagine telling him about all the things he does that irritate you. Or you can write it all down and then burn it. Sometimes that helps. Don't allow your fears to disempower you. Sometimes you have to speak up - however quietly.

And if none of that works, you can just send Hardhead after him. :D

24. I would seal up all the holes in the roof and wall so smoke does not come

in and then fertilize your lawn with something that will make his dog want to stay off it...(or will give him a good stomach ache when he sniffs it). There must be something that you can do so you can enjoy your house and your life...

Start a nice big compost heap inthe corner of your yard furthest from your house..but closest to his ...

my wife. Neither of us recall seeing the dog recently. I hope nothing happened to it. I am not cruel and I like animals. No he has not done the gun thing in at least two years. My roof peaks are "Cobra" I just had them done a few years ago when I had blown insulation put in the attic.

This seems (Smoke) to be problem associated with wind direction. It really is not too bad, but because of my emphysema I am more affected than a normal person might be.

anywhere I have lived, you're not allowed to fire off a rifle even if it is in your own backyard, because you have to be hundreds of yards away from any buildings.

I've had crummy neighbors before, though, and calling the police really doesn't help much.

He does sound bad but imagine this:

My friend, a middle-aged female librarian, finally saved up enough money for a house. Librarians don't get paid a lot of money but my friend finally landed a corporate librarian job that paid a hundred grand a year so she bought a house in a middle-income neighborhood. In NJ, 100 Gs is sorta' middle class.

So she put a lot of money into the house, like putting in a downstairs bath, etc. There was a little room off to the side of the house that she filled with bookcases and she bought a big leather chair and a reading lamp. It was her dream to be able to read in her own library.

The guy next door sells his house and who moves in but four young guys who are running some type of car business out of the house. Never mind it's against zoning law; the zoning people in this town are so lame they don't care. They have 15 cars that they stuff in their driveway and backyard and sometimes even on the lawn. Most of the time the cars are running and the exhaust seeps into her house, too. They go in and out of the house, turning the various cars on and different times of the day and night. Chirp chirp. Chirp chirp.

Oh and they work on the cars constantly, too. Bang, bang, bang, vrooom, zoom.

One day, when she thought it couldn't get any worse, a trailer pulled up to the house and the four guys run out and open up the trailer: yippeee! Motorcycles. So not there's not just 15 cars, there are four motorcycles.

Oh and did I mention they are boom car boys? Yeah, big stereo systems in the cars that rock the house.

Oh and I did I mention they play basketball, too? Bam bam bam.

Oh yeah, and the mercury light. They installed one so they could work on the cars all night. It illuminates half my friend's house so she can only live on one side of the house at night.
