Poll question: Favorite vegetable?
What's yours?

(Wasn't there someone here who was supposed to take the keys from half drunk posters?)

1. Carrots are wonderful...
they're one of few vegetables I'm willing to eat. Most taste terrible. I wouldn't dare eat a cucumber.

I like the junk food!

21. Yellow/Orange Carrots?
Carrots weren't orange until the Dutch got patriotic and developed a "root crop" in their National colors.

He has full function of his mind, he just has no use of his body.

Reagan could be a vegetable, though certainly not a favorite.

10. Yeah, well
In case anyone wants a vegetable with their hot dogs. We must have our veggies as well. A balanced diet is the key to good health.

13. Yes, it's true that it's good to have a balance
Although some will claim that you can't beat meat, even the most carnivorous among us has to recognize that vegetables have their place, too.

carrots are ok, but zucchini sucks. It's kinda of like vile-tasting mutant squash...it is squash's evil twin out to inflict revenge on those animal savages who dared to enjoy devouring the purity and sinlessness of squash...

suggest that you do not attempt to carry your favorite cucumber aboard commercial flights. Pick one up at a supermarket upon arrival at your destination, instead, they say.

24. Fresh green beans and broccoli, using a pressure cooker
I finally learned how to use that thing and it's great. Corn on the cob comes out terrific also, plus I'm making a mean stew drenched with fresh mushrooms and carrots.

So far no steam burns.

I confuse the hell out of my system, alternating healthy stuff with crappiola.

36. Me too, but the bad news--very little of the iron gets absorbed
in most people. I love the stuff, eat it in prodigious amounts, and still battle frequent bouts of anemia.

Anyhoo:

35. Brocolli
All women should be eating Brocolli. It has natural estrogen. It helps with water retention. I think it is an anti occident, if I remmeber correctly.

And it is yummy barely steamed with butter and lemon juice.

42. Onions
Julia Child said it: "there has never been a civilization without onions"!

While I wouldn't care to eat a raw yellow or red onion (Vidalias are another matter), I can't think of a single meat or vegetable dish that can't be improved by the addition of some grilled or caramelized onions.

Oh yeah, and really fresh English peas ring my chimes. If they're fresh enough, you don't even have to cook them; I'll pop them right out of the pod and gobble them up like candy.

In fact, I can't think of any vegetable I don't like. Unless it's okra, or Southern stewed greens (love the greens - gag at the layer of bacon fat - eeeew!)
