Yup! Blake's 7. And the closest modern TV show to be as gritty is Firefly, though the 2005 BBC continuation of "Blake's 7" is supposed to be promising. (well, until they pissed off Paul Darrow, who has since left the project... sigh. I'm still surprised somebody would continue the show or remake it today, given its subject content.)

And even then, Firefly is not the same thing.

But 2005 should be the year that GLBT issues come not only to the forefront in more forums, but also that a surprising census takes place. A census showing just how many heteros out here are in support of our homosexual brethren and sistren.

I think that many would be surprised to see how many "straights" like me are ready to march for/take to cause the issues surrounding my/our GLBT mates.

When not being beaten by the mainstream for being different, we're branded any number of goofy doofus bafflegabby mental illnesses from some counselor who thinks he's better than God.

Still, if homosexuality was a conscious choice - akin to the choice of "which washing machine should I use today?", would I choose to be a pole smoker? Youbetcha. To this day I can't fathom how two heteros can do that for hours on end. It looks silly. But I don't go around doing the heterophobic equivalent of Fred Phelps, though I'll admit it makes great sitcom material... a good thing that most sitcoms are mindless nuclear-family drivel lacking of anything funny, or else the material would be used... :D

Screw the mainstream. Sure, easy for me to say as a white hetero male. I'm looking forward, dare I say, to when being gay is cool. Not that I want a bunch of poseurs french-kissing each other on the football field to impress someone, but in that it's outspoken, different and just a wee bit taboo to some.
