3. Question...............
is there ANYTHING to prevent the recall of Governor after Governor after Governor in the State? If Ahhhhhnold was elected, COULD he be recalled, assuming the proper number of signitures were obtained? Are there any provisions to keep this from becoming an ad infinitum process? I imagine once a Republican is installed in office there will be an immediate ammendment to close this loophole. These people are scum. No, worse. They're the stuff scum feeds on.

4. Continuous recall is possible. It's a circular firing squad.
This is civilization?

5. Recalls could become even easier
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 02:46 AM by BrotherBuzz
as the required signatures needed to validate the petition (12% of votes cast in last election) would be fewer and fewer because a lot of people in California would stop bothering to vote.

edit for clarifaction...Time for bed - goodnight.

8. Yes, the absolute disgust of the people
I have a feeling that a bulk of the folks who signed that petition to recall the governor in the first place had no clue the circus they were creating.

But I think California could get away with one more recall - to redeem themselves over the fact that the 25% of the population may determine who the next governor is even though it's feasible that 40%+ still want to keep Davis in the statehouse.

I posted that on a yahoo board and the guy replied that the majority of the people have still said that they didn't want Gray Davis as their governor and therefore that was fair.

My reply:

So using your logic, it's ok that even more people may not want Arnold (or another candidate) as governor since it's feasible that 75%+ of California would have voted for another candidate other than Arnold and yet be stuck with him as a governor

These people never seem to reply back to me

10. The people signing did NOT know...a lot of the time
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 05:12 PM by SoCalDem
Sometimes, standing outside Target and other stores, there will be people with clipboards, who ambush people who are leaving..

I stopped once and asked what they were collecting signatures for.. The person was collecting signatures using this type of rhetoric..

"Ma'am, would you please sign our petition to save our schools"??

I asked her..."Save them from WHAT?""...

<crickets chirping>

uh..uh..

The people collecting the signatures usually do not even KNOW what they are collecting them FOR.. or if they do, it's just more platitudinous drivel...

Phony thinktank-speak..

Citizens for clean air
Citizens for good schools
Citizens for fair healthcare..

The way they word this crap, they usually get people to sign... Who would be AGAINST clean air, good schools and fair healthcare..??

Scammers...all of tehmm:(
