How do you clean vinyl records now-a-days?

I'm spending this new years' weekend listening to some records that I haven't listened to in years - and they are staticy and I was just wondering what, if anything, is safe to use to dust them off and maybe anti-static-ize them.....

any ideas?

any one else spending new years weekend getting nostalgic and listening to lots of music?

1. I always used window cleaner like Windex

2. I usually buy a disc washer or the liquid from ebay.

Until a couple of years ago, Radio Shack carried it.

I unfortunately, can't get my turntable to work with the system that I currently have, so I have no way of listening to my old records at all.

I do still have my old Discwasher, but I no longer have the fluid that came with it, and don't know what was in it.

My mom's boyfriend has a records and a turntable and he just uses distilled water. I don't know how effective that actually is though.

5. a "nitty gritty" record cleaning machine

Seriously, they call them that. A "record vacuum" that comes with its own cleaning agent.

If you have a lot of records and seriously want to clean them, check into this.

That's Rule One in the Audiophool game. The effectiveness of an Audiphool "secret weapon" is directly proportional to the audacity of the claims made for it and it's price.

That being said, the "Nitty Gritty" machine is the Real Deal. It cleans 'em up as well as Ivory liquid and a Watts wash brush.
