1. I love it
My mother loved the Petries' house when she first got married - she wanted to live in a house like theirs, I remember. It was a fun and cute show with a great cast. I love the reruns. (I was too young for the show itself.)

4. Love It
Funny you should mention this show. I just did a search today to find an old Dick Van Dyke movie. It was about a whole town quitting smoking. Of course, it was not listed, maybe it was out in the 60's/70's.

6. That was the best of all the '60s sitcoms because it ended like it began.
There were no actor replacements or spinoffs to taint the memory of the show. I'll admit I didn't like the episodes that were designed to showcase Mary Tyler Moore's dancing resumé. But that's my only bitch about the show. It was truly wonderful.

7. How could you not love it?
Sharp, intelligent, sophisticated and before it's time.

Remember "The Wrong Baby" episode?

Way before it's time and . . .

the single best double-take in television history, bar none. I'm laughing even now.

8. Love it
And, again, I'd like to thank Mary Tyler Moore, Ann-Margret and Tina Turner for easing me through my 1960s-era puberty.
John
Best episode? The one where Laura told the nation that Alan Brady wore a hairpiece.

9. Hmmm. I still think it's the "WB," but you may very well be right.

You ARE right, I think, but the best scene is the one I described.

I was too young when it first ran but have seen it since in reruns (I'm 44). They don't make 'em like that anymore and I doubt they ever will again.

10. Hope this isn't bad etiquette
movieflix.com has 6 episodes, but they are premium - $5.95 per month to look at all their movies. I think it's worth it. Quite a bit to choose from, and many are free.

11. hated it
The entire show seemed to be about Dick taking pratfalls. No plot that I could discover.

I still have resentments towards Dick that I probably need to get over. I was having a drinking problem and was being asked to consider joining AA. The problem is, the week before Dick had his picture all over TV Guide for having made some movie about alcoholism and the article hinted inside that he was in A. A.

I reached the conclusion that he was supposed to be some sort of spokesperson for AA, and if I had to look at his ugly mug all the time, I wasn't interested in the program. It took me several more years to get into it.

The anonymity rule is there for a reason.

12. Loved it.
It was the way I wanted adult life to be.

One of the top five best sitcoms of all time, IMHO. The others: "Mary Tyler Moore", "WKRP", "Seinfeld", and "The Simpsons".

13. No! Not enough Jerry van Dyke!
Just kidding. I only remember DvD on Nick at Nite when I was pretty young, and I didn't really find it to be a funny show. But hey, I was a kid with the attention span of a gnat. I was more of a "Get Smart"/"Green Acres" kid. Easier humor.

14. Love it!
Just saw some of the cast from that show at my aunt's funeral last week...my uncle was a television star in that era on another show so they all showed up to pay their respects...it was great.
