The Big Red, The Gridbirds, The Football Cardinals (instead of the baseball Cardinals) The Cranberry & Cream, all nicknames for the team I grew up rooting for. The birthright of the utterly incompetent Bill Bidwill, this franchise has the worst winning percentage of any professional sports team over the last half century.
He was by far the most unpopular St. Louisan even before threatening he'd leave town unless he got a new tax-payer subsidized stadium. Most people said 'don't let the door hit you on the way out'. So Bidwill took his ball and moved to the desert.
In the end, St. Louis power brokers decided bad football was better than no football and bribed another bad owner to move their bad team to St. Louis.
Who'd have thought the once woeful Rams would be the first team to score 500 points three years in a row, appearing in two of the last four Super Bowls, winning one?
Revenge is sweet as now the Cardinals have been placed in the Rams division. As long as Bidwill is in charge the Rams have a great chance of beating him twice a year.
Bill Bidwill: Worst owner EVER.
BTW: The Cranberry & Cream is a somewhat derogatory nickname derived from the team colors.
