Please help the queen of cut-n-paste code!
Hi,

I'm reworking my website. I know html and I know that's not saying much. I really enjoy customizing cut-n-paste codes that are for the most part over my head.

If you don't mind, would you click on the page I'm working on and let me know if the layout looks like I didn't mean it, or if you can't find the menu or something like that. And tell me your browser.

http://pages.ivillage.com/partisanwitchhunt//pwh2/pwh3.html#

The links will all go to pages that don't exist yet, except for the Kucinich link.

Before I go on adding content and really fixing things up, I just want to make sure the codes I lifted (from sites that give permission to do that) are really cross-browser.

Thanks so much!

4. Cool.
It need tons of work, but I'm enjoying it right now. It's about the only thing that takes my mind off my leg pain these days. (Doing PT after an accident.)

Thanks so much.

2. I like the Java on your site.
One recommendation I would make is to make your mission statement text a bit bigger.
:)

3. Thanks.
I'll play a bit. I don't want the viewer to have to scroll down to read it. I'll try one size up.

Should I make the messages change more quickly, more slowly, or leave it, do you think?

Thanks again.

5. don`t like the
scrowling over an image thing, maybe center large image then have the scroll where it is. maybe seperate down further on the page or scrowl to the right..i think you`ve got all the elements,it`s just figuring out what looks the best and the easiest to use..keep posting your work...

6. Thanks.
I'll try to move the elements around and see if I can make it do something better, but I've been having trouble making things go where I want them to go.

8. I saw a menu for a split second
As the page came up (in IE6) I saw a column in a box over on the left side that was gone when the page fully opened. Was I seeing things?
The Mission Statement could maybe move a little faster. Also, that purple is kind of hard on the eyes.

In Netscape the Dennis Kucinich scroll is way over to the left instead of in the center. It is scrolling over the Partisan Witch Hunt graphic. I don't see any menu in Netscape.

I do love your site and have a link and brief review on my site (in my sig line, then "Links: news, weblogs . . .").

9. Thanks.
That's what I needed to know. I have to have better control over where the elements show up on the page. It's not the same from person to person.

I know basic html, but I don't know how to absolute position my graphic. Do you? I'll go search and see if I can find out.

And darn, I like the purple.

;-)

12. still looks the same on the 2 browsers
. . . no menu on either, and in Netscape the Dennis Kucinich scroll is way to the left. Netscape is weird. Sorry, but I'm not that knowledgeable about html. My brother is my web meister. I can do basic things like adding text and pictures and basic positioning but he takes care of the heavy-duty "secret codes."

13. Clever but a little obscure
Wasn't even sure there were any links on there until I figured out to click on the star.

But I'm a simple soul who prefers simple and obvious in such things.

14. Can you keep your Mission Statement together?
I had a great line to start this post, but the break in the Mission Statement made it disappear. (Remember, I'm old enough to be your mother.)

The comment about not knowing the star was a link to your contents was more than valid. Can you name that star?

OK. I'm watching your Mission Statement change on the screen. Maybe a good thing. (Hope I don't miss my catch phrase.)

I love your new PWH logo and the black screen. It makes me want to take the laptop under the bed and quiver with what is going on in the world. Well, I can't fit under the bed - with or without the laptop - so we'd better straighten things out.

Well, I'll never find that piece of your Mission Statement tonight. I've got to take a nap so I can work from 10 to 11 and then go to an almost real job tomorrow at 8.

"Fishing for Witches!" Are you going to make that documentary or will you leave it up to Michael Moore?

:loveya:

I'm tired already! How will I ever make it to 11 o'clock?

:loveya:

Ma
