Poll question: Favorite Van Morrison Song? |
|
Tonight is Van Morrison night at my place. I figured it has probably been a while since we had a VM poll.
For years I avoided his albums because all I ever heard was Brown Eyed Girl played over and over again on oldies stations. It took a while before I realized what a great songwriter he is and how much depth is in much of his music.
Sweet Thing and Into the Mystic are my favorites so they make the poll.

1. Moondance was the first LP I ever bought, and I bought it when I was |
|
9 or 10 at the five and dime for maybe $4. But Gloria has since become my favorite VM song.

3. With all good music Van Morrison has put out |
|
over the last 35 years it's impossible to narrow it down to one song.

It actually got some AM radio airplay as I recall, in the wake of "Wild Night" and "Domino". Those were the days.

Madame George springs first to mind, but I'll say Come Here My Love from the Veedon Fleece album, because it's my favourite melancholic singin'-in-the-shower tune.

Has long been one of my favorite songs by anyone, so I can't imagine voting for anything else.
But most of my Van listening in the last year or two has been the album Veedon Fleece, so if I had to pick a 2nd favorite it would probably be "Linden Arden Stole the Highlights."

It's a fabulous song. It's even been covered (and covered well) by Shawn Colvin.
