TAMPA, Fla. -- A radio station promotion offering free breast enlargement surgery is sparking more criticism of Clear Channel Communications.
America's biggest owner of radio stations said it had nothing to do with the contest, which was run by Clear Channel stations in four cities: Tampa and Jacksonville, Florida, St. Louis, and Detroit.
Clear Channel said local managers make programming decisions.
The "Breast Christmas Ever" contest, as it was called, offered free surgery to women who wrote the best essay on why they wanted bigger breasts. The Tampa station said it got 91,000 entries. A total of 13 women were chosen.
The National Research Center for Women and Families and the National Organization for Women are outraged. They're urging people to complain to the FCC.
Clear Channel just recently settled a huge indecency complaint.
