I have the legal right to record music off the radio, but do I have the legal right to record music off the Internet radio?

2. Actually, I think it's yes! |
|
IIRC, I read that only the person sharing the music is engaging in an illegal activity... the person downloading is not.
Sounds hinky, so who knows?

There are a number of applications that do this. |
|
I use a Mac program called iNet Stream Archiver, but there are dozens and dozens of others.

5. Yes it is. Sharing it with someone else is not. |
|
It is a personal use issue.

14. I think that was the legal point that was made when the case |
|
was decided for radio, and then extended to TV and internet.

9. How about 300 streams at once! |
|
Stream ripping applications allow users to capture multiple streams all day, amounting to several thousand songs. In fact, one program, StationRipper will record 300 streams simultaneously and make a separate MP3 for every song played. It will even skip broadcast tracks that you've already recorded. ... But is it legal? Stream ripping software has lots of non-infringing uses, so it looks like the programs have nothing to fear ... yet. It's really up to what the user then does with the music – if they are using it as a way to acquire music without paying, or then go onto to share streams or tracks that they have ripped, then that's illegal. http://digital-lifestyles.info/display_page.asp?section=distribution&id=1160
