LOGAN, Utah -- Colette Yates wants to run a cleaning service out of her home, but she isn't offering house cleaning.

Yates would like to cleanse clients' colons in her Logan, Utah, home.

But local planning commission officials have recommended that Yates be denied a permit for her colon hydrotherapy business. Officials note that while colon hydrotherapy is a licensed procedure in other states, it's not in Utah.

The procedure is like a high-tech enema, with water injected into the nether regions to loosen and soften waste.

Yates is hoping commissioners will overturn the planning board's recommendation. She said she's spent two years and about $40,000 on her colon-cleansing operation and doesn't want to see her investment go down the drain.
