12. Richard Harris... MacArthur's Park had to be tweaked

repeatedly to bring his voice into tune with the orchestra. I read that the original tapes are unbearable to listen to. I tried to listen to the entire album MAP was on, and I thought I would have to pour straight bleach in my ears to get the stench out!

I have a whole CD of Nimoy and Shatner's various covers and original songs (the Hobbit). The only song I ever heard Dr. Demento interrupt and say, "That's enough of that" was Shatner's cover of "Lucky in the Sky with Diamonds."

20. I haven't seen it, myself...

...but I've heard that Kevin Spacey did a bad job singing (and even worse dancing) in the new Bobby Darin biopic.

It's not that he's a terrible singer, it's just that he's mediocre when the story calls for him to be so very good that audiences of bobby soxers are supposed to go wild when he's done. I've read it would have been better if he had lip-synched the actual Darin, but he apparently has some obsession with Darin and thought he could pull off an impression of him. Of course, Spacey is about 15 years too old to play Darin in the first place, but when the subject of this thread (actors who thought they could sing something and ended up biting off more than they could chew) came up, what I've heard about this current movie immediately came to mind.

I'm sure there are Spacey fans who will disagree, and remember, I admitted I've only seen small bits of the movie and only heard about the rest, so what do I know?

Maybe you can serve as a buffer between me and the onslaught that is likely to come from the Kevin Spacey fans on this board when I say that Kevin Spacey sucks it when he sings. I haven't seen the Bobby Darin movie but I did see Spacey sing on Letterman a couple of years back and, quite honestly, I don't even remember what he sounded like because I was so blown away by how full of himself he seemed to be. I haven't liked Kevin Spacey since that night.

...well, as you may have noticed from how I ended my last post to this thread, I'm not looking to get into a flame war with anybody.

I offered what I had heard, which was consistent with my impression of the bits I'd seen of Spacey's singing and dancing in this one particular movie, "Beyond the Sea."

I've admired his acting in other movies I've seen him in.

I watched Funny Lady this weekend, in which he plays Billy Rose, and he sang a bit. It was just miserable, especially since he sings right after Streisand in one scene.
