I haven't been following the national championship the way I usually do. I didn't realize everyone thought that Auburn got screwed at USC's expense. In that case, good! Go USC! The BSC is stupid!

I mean, in basketball, who would have picked Jim Valvano's NC State team to beat Phi Slamma Jamma from Houston, or Villanova to take Georgetown, just to name a couple of surprise champions. In football, trying to figure out the two "best" teams is just such a fool's errand. And I think football with fewer games and less intersectional mixing it up than basketball really doesn't yield a consensus on who's the best.

I thought Auburn had a good squad, but I wasn't impressed with the showing against Virginia Tech. Maybe they would have looked sharper without a month off between their last game and the bowl. Texas and Michigan put on a whale of a game; is that a fitting end to Texas' season, or should they have had a chance to move on and play a semifinal game?

I think a 16-team playoff, a maximum four additional games, is eminently doable.

They picked on him all game and he had a HORRIBLE game. As you watch the highlights see how many times you see #23 in white near the play but not making it.

The 35 yeard run by Bush-#23 was there but ran past the hole (left side)

The TE's spectacular catch (GREAT throw by Leinart too)-#23 was "covering"

The BOMB to #9-#23 failed to cover. That was in interesting sequence-OU's #44 went down with a bad left shoulder and they called timeout (official timeout) coming back from commercial USC converted on 3rd down and #24 knocked #9 out of bounds #24 looked to be holding his right shoulder but OU didn't call time. #24 half assed the blitz and #23 was no where near #9 TD!!!

The throw under the uprights-#23 was "covering" that too.

Great game by USC. The BONEHEADED play on the punt and Jason White's :wtf: throw didn't help (did he yell "punt" before he threw it?)
