What's the best site to find the cheapest airfare?

OK, what's the best site to find the cheapest airfares? I know of travelocity and expedia.

What about about comparison shopping on the internet in general...? I've used something caled fetchbookinfo and they give some great deals and list a lot of different prices...there are a few more like mysimon.

4. Sometimes the airlines' own websites give the best deals

because they can sometimes save on fees they pay to the external sites. Check Orbitz and Expedia, etc., then check the airlines' sites -- see if it's the same or better.

they cannot be beat, and I have not seen them on the 'cheap tix' sites (but I haven't been to one for awhile).

15. I'm pretty much exclusively an Expedia user

I price compare every trip I take, but Expedia unfailingly has the best prices at the times I want. Priceline can usually get me a ticket for less money, but it's invariably the redeye with ten layovers (it once offered me a two layover trip from SMF to PSP...via SFO and LAX...for $79, but with the layovers it would have been a ten hour flight. I can drive it in seven).

You can sometimes also save a little money by locating a flight on Expedia or Travelocity and then purchasing the actual ticket from the airlines website. This doesn't always work (some flights are apparently "agent only", and others list at a different price for the same flight ans seat), but it's usually worth checking if you're tight on cash and need to fly.

But you really need to check out multiple sites, including the individual airline ones, because there's no absolute one best site.
