LANCASTER, Pa. -- Police in two Pennsylvania counties are investigating a car theft ring targeting one kind of car.
They're not only the same make and model, but the same color as well. White Volkswagen Jettas are being stolen, Lancaster television station WGAL reported.
"They have a penchant for white cars. I couldn't tell you (why)," Officer Damon Greathouse said.
One white Jetta was stolen from a Jonestown, Pa., car lot and then dumped in Lancaster. Greathouse is now checking it over for any clues that may have been left behind.
"The locks and ignition are intact, which would suggest the suspect had a key," Greathouse said.
The thieves are targeting car dealerships and auto body shops in Lancaster and Lebanon counties. One of the places hit was Countryside Auto Sales in Manheim, Pa. Police said the thieves are going about it the easy way.
"Took the keys to the car and drove the car off the lot. As simple as that," Greathouse said.
