Much more of a controlled singer. Halford has the better range but he's too showy and theatrical with his voice for my tastes. Plus his stage shtick and lyrics are a lot cheesier than Dickinson's.

Tate's definitely the better singer, although Dio is phenominal as well. But I like Dio's music just by a hair over Queensryche, though they're incredible too.

Over the top, but they are still interesting. To my knowledge, the only band to ever put "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" to the metal.

Bruce has the heart and soul, hands down, but his vocal mechanics aren't nearly as solid as Halford's.

They are both extremely talented, awesome guys...it's hard for me to choose, dammit!

I've seen Dickinson in concert, and that man is just unbelievable. I wasn't even really a fan of Iron Maiden before seeing them (mr. cedahlia is a huge metalhead so I just went to keep him company.) But I must say, I was blown away by Dickinson. He has more energy and stage presence than most of the much younger guys taking a stab at metal today. So I would lean towards him, but then, I have never seen Halford in concert, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for him too, so call me undecided on this one!

That was a great experience...we even had lawn seats and couldn't see very well, but it was still great.

And I'd love to see Halford in action, too...another amazing man who could teach some of these young guys today a thing or too about being metal! He just seems like the coolest guy, and from what I've seen and heard about his performances at Ozzfest, he's still kicking as much ass as ever!

so for me he wins.Rocka Rolla, and Sad Wings of Destiny albums. Green Manalishi comes to mind also.

Plus if you need a scroll on stage to remember the 10,000 words to one of your songs......



I think Judas Priest wins for me in the guitar duo too, but bass is Maiden by far...

34. maaaan...hard chice..but i have to go with the priest

they are the godfathers of metal....only black sabbath beats them out. wanna hear range for vocals...listen to "victim of changes" and be blown away..then put on the "screaming for vengeance" cd...'nuff said.halford is the better vocalist by a nose.

that said, i have to give kudos to maiden for smart, timely lyrics.....out of their many songs i think "wasted years" is probably my favorite...but read into songs like "the trooper" or "aces high"...i remember being blown away by this as a teen listening to them. at one point i had over 30 maiden posters adorning my room...nightmare ally indeed....

between the two of them, i saw priest 4 times and maiden 3 times on two continents...they were both incredible live...always tight.(i never saw the ripper owens fronted priest though...i prefer the original). i never tired of either halfords harley or maidens eddie...

someone earlier mentioned dio and queensryche...while i liked dio's music...the stage shows were a bit over the top for me, but he is a hell of a singer and showman...always an entertaining show. as for queensryche...always a tight show...i have seen them 3 times as well....i don't think there is a better vocalist alive today than geoff tate...i think i will go and put in my "rage for order", "unleashed in the east", "power slave" and "heaven and hell" cd's, put it to random play, and relive some of my mis-spent youth now......
