3. The swastika has a long history before the Nazis
<snip>
A close look at the Capitol building in Washington D.C. will reveal several friezes formed out of swastikas. It is difficult, in fact, to find an old book on art, mythology, or archaeology, without seen swastikas profusely represented.
<snip>
But the swastika had a long life before Hitler and the Nazis. It has been for centuries a symbol of peace, laughter, joy and good luck. It is one of the oldest symbols of mankind. Its Nazi links are only a minor speck in its very long existence. It is a symbol that deserves a better treatment from history.

own purposes, the swatzika was a recognized symbol in India or thereabouts of peace and harmony. The original significance is barely recognized now that it is universally associated with fascism, concentration camps, and political and civilian terror.

I would speculate that the Queen of Jordan recognizes the symbol in its original meaning, not the latter. It was not meant to be a nefarious message to international Jewry.

6. Agreed. But from an Arab Queen? How are Jews supposed to
think about this rationally?

I can't.

Sorry.

10. Even after, too

I got a wedding invitation from an Indian couple about ten years ago, and was taken aback to see the invitation was decorated with swastikas. As the groom pointed out to me, it is an old symbol, and not only that, but the Nazis turned it the wrong way -- he claimed that the Nazi swastika "spins" in the opposite direction of the original symbol. (I need to look more closely at Pickles' tablecloth to verify this.)

On Edit: In a way I feel bad for Pickles since this was a gift that she probably wore as a courtesy. Not that this excuses her usual fashion sense....

5. A bad imitation of the curtain-dress scene from Gone with the Wind.
But an appropriate title.

9. I heard the other day that because of global warming, all those
who had botox injections when there was an 'R' in the month will experience dramatic facial discoloration on halloween this year. How do you think that Pickles will like the color puce?
