"The Legend of Ron Jeremy" -- Possibly the BEST Movie I've ever seen

Got it on DVD at Hollywood the other night.

Had some friends who saw it in the theater last year or so.

Really REALLY was surprised. DIdn't know what to expect, but god, it was a GREAT movie.

Did you know that before getting into Porn, Ron Jeremy was a teacher for severely handicapped children (Mentally retarded, autistic, blind, deaf, etc). He has a masters in Special Education :scared: ha ha.

THe movie was OUTSTANDING. I never thought I'd have sympathy, or even...I don't know...emotions about Ron Jeremy other than 'What's he doing to himself and WHY!!!" but this movie really did it.

I don't know what the life of your 'average' porn star is like, nor do I know what the personality of your 'average' porn star is like, but this movie about Ron Jeremy really seemed to be NOT what you'd think he'd be like.

He was a totally personable, humble, NORMAL person. I just wanted to give him a really big hug afterwards (and then cleanse myself in bleach and alcohol for a long time)

2. I've never seen anything like it

I mean, this guy is the Anti-Porn Star. And quite reflective about why he possibly is in porn, goes to parties, etc.

And he really really wants to be a legit actor. I feel bad for him, you know---being typecast---and it doesn't just happen to porn stars---it happens to any actor who happens to 'stick' with one thing for too long.

If I made a movie, I'd hire Ron Jeremy AND I'd make him a principal :)

I think it's cool that his family is so non-chalant about what he does too. And his dad's a physicist and is all "I don't care if you do this naked business, just keep the family name out of it" ha ha ha

4. Actually, I did know about his teaching/special ed background.

I read about it a while back, and I was surprised by it at the time. I'll have to rent that one; it sounds interesting.

5. This reminds me of a story on 48 Hours or some other show

a few years ago about porn actors. They interviewed a supposedly "successful" porn actor who lived in a total dive. It sounds like they don't make much.

6. One of my closet female friends made movies with Ron

Her porn-star name was "Robin Sane" (She loved Bowie and got the idea from "Aladdin Sane." She was incredibly intelligent and we were both drug addicts at the time. She has since becomes a bio-chemist PhD, with 2 Masters, one in civil engineering.

Very few of us are what are jobs would indicate--that includes porn-stars. Some of my Friends who were prostitutes or drug dealers were among the brightest people I've met. I think all porn should be legal--but I think it is detrimental to the human spirit of the people in the videos and those of us watching.

as a stripper at a local night club.

She went on to a successful career in electrical engineering as far as I know.

13. My favorite Ron Jeremy moment

In one of his movies, he's doing standard missionary with this over-the-hill, burnout, 40-ish Asian woman, who looks like she'd rather be anywhere but there. I'm talkin' dead fish here, boys and girls. Jeremy breaks character, looks right at the camera and says "Wow lady, you're an ANIMAL!", with this sarcastic grin on his face. Hilarious!
