Is it just me, or was Ray Manzarek the most talented of the Doors?

7. Krieger was one of the few originals in the sixties

When the Doors released their first record in 1967, all the young guitar players were just aping what was already going on -- Hendrix, McGuinn (both his jingle-jangle and his later Coltrane-stylings), Clapton, Richards, etc.

Krieger didn't play power chords, traditional blues leads, or anything that remotely sounded like anyone else.

5. John Densmore was a rocking, creative drummer

I'm the type that listens carefully to the drums, and I can tell you that Densmore was definitely in that upper tier of rock drummers.

But the Doors as a band played extremely well together. Enough to create so much classic music.

Densmore was a great jazz drummer
Krieger has one of the most unique guitar styles I have heard (occasionally has his fair share of blunt notes his leads but who doesn't)

They stink so bad that Electra has permanently 86'ed them from re-release. Worst of the worst is the cut 'No me moleste mosquito'.
That cut says it all - 'No me moleste mosquito, let me eat my burrito'.

I have often dreamed about what Morrison could have accomplished with a real backup band!

To me, Manzarek would have made a great organist at a Holiday Inn lounge.
