Aaaiiiiii! SCAREY cat breed!!!

So I was researching cat breeds to try to find another that has a temperament compatible to my Turkish Angora's (smart and HYPER) because I want to adopt another kitty so that she has a playmate that can keep up with her. One book recommended "Orientals," so I looked them up on Catster; OMG, what circle of hell did these things emerge from?! Why....just WHY would anyone breed an animal to look like this? Like something that went wrong in Harry Potter's classroom.... :scared:

15. Just Google "Orientals cattery"; there's lots of

them. I guess someone is trying to make them more "unique" by creating horse faced, bat eared creatures. It's a shame, because it sounds like they have really cool personalities.

kitties in need of sunscreen that don't actually offer any advantage in the allergy department. Seems a little cruel breeding sphynx; the cats are susceptible to skin cancer and hypothermia. At least their proportions are close to normal.

They're ears are big, but they're faces are well proportioned; I think it's the "horsiness" of these orientals that I find so disturbing (My Turkish Angora has oversized ears too-it's a middle eastern / African breed trait)

Funny you mention their temperament... IIRC, I read about breeders who were selecting not for color but ear shape, and they eventually noticed a correlation between the ear shape and the animal's temperament. I'd like to see more studies on that, actually.
