6. Berghoff is a brew made by an old German restaurant here. |
|
Goose Island is a micro-brewery that opened in the 80's. Both excellent beers.

has become my favorite local. The have several brews but Honker's Ale is the most popular and my favorite. It's pretty popular around here. A lot of bars have it on tap. It reminds me of a mix between Redhook and Fat Tire, if that helps.
I just recently got Berghoff for the first time.

15. I do like heavy beers |
|
The first beer I really enjoyed was a Guiness. Before that I had only tried crap like Bud and Miller lite.

9. You have adjusted well to Chicago I see! |
|
I just dug up your post from September saying you were moving from CA. I didn't realize you were relatively new.

11. Are you sure that was mine? |
|
I moved to Chicago in August from Arkansas. I'm originally from downstate Illinois so this was kind of like coming back home.
Anyway, I love this town!

My bad. You mentioned CA, but not that you lived there. Glad to have you back. Chicago rocks!

14. Seriously, what's up with the fancy beers? |
|
However, Old Style tastes its best in a wax cup from Wrigley. Those are rare to find this season.

|
I can't stand the cheap stuff unless I'm already drunk.

Czechvar, the Czech budweiser. Only $1.69 at Potash Bros. on Clark, if you live in Chicago.

19. Speaking of drinking in Chicago |
|
I went to the Dark Horse saloon recently on the north side. It was a great little place. It had character and pictures on the wall of RFK, Clinton, Humbert Humphrey and others. Nice place. Anyone else ever go there? I just discovered it.
