We finally got the car doors unstuck this morning from last week's ice storm. We had hoped to do it on Thursday when, according to the local meteorologists, the temps were supposed to begin warming up. It didn't warm up on Thursday. We had stocked up on food so we weren't that concerned. Actually I made a 15# turkey which warmed up the house and has given us plenty o' leftovers.
Listening to our trusty weather people we decided that Friday was the day to try to get the car doors opened. We had been assured that the temperatures were going to warm up. It didn't. We did get the driver door open and the car started to help melt off some of the ice. Unfortunately we couldn't get the door closed. The mechanism had frozen in position and no amount of cajoling was going to defrost it. We gave up on it in hopes that we hadn't already broken it.
This morning, we got the freshly frozen, half-closed driver door open again. We also managed to get the passenger door opened. Opening the passenger door to get in is much easier than climbing over the stick shift. Miracles of miracles we also managed to get both doors to shut properly. We made it to the store and now have Miracle Whip for the sandwiches and salsa for the turkey burritos.
We haven't totally given up on seeing the sun (or the sidewalks) though. Apparently, the warm weather is supposed to be here tomorrow.
on edit: I forgot to mention the light flurry of snow that was falling as we scraped the ice off.
