AWD is my husband
I just wanted to allow time for an update on the events today. Fortunately, I got a bird's eye view of the entire day, after the fact. So not only did I get to see the meltdown, but I saw the overwhelming show of support that followed.

Jeff doesn't want to hear about it right now (he's buried in work at the moment anyway), but I'll bet that he looks in during the wee hours of the morning.

I'll get this out of the way now - I know him well enough to guarantee his return to DU very soon. He mentioned something about a vote on the rules in General Discussion, something he seemed optimistic about.

I can't say I blame him for being hurt. Nobody knows how he has poured himself into his campaign like I do. The guy gets about 5 hours of sleep a night. He's catapulted himself into this race, based entirely upon the love and warmth he's felt in these rooms for the past two years. His daughter tells other kids at school that her "daddy is going to help the country with Dean." He's her hero. He runs purely on passion and adrenalin.

He got called the worst names I've ever heard when he held his bullhorn at our peace rallies, and he laughed it off. He knew he'd be called an unAmerican commie bastard. He knew they'd give him the finger. He knew they'd make fun of his name. He laughed about it all, and joked about it when it was over. It amazingly never bothered him at all.

He hates using the ignore feature here. He says he doesn't want to miss out on any potential advice. As soon as he figures out that anybody who would say these things couldn't possibly have a lick of advice worth hearing, he'll put certain people on permanent ignore and move on. They're not worth it, and never were.

Ohio Dem is right. He spent the evening playing with Charlotte. If he manages to get every person in the 16th District to see how he is with that little girl, he wins in a landslide.

As his wife, I'd like to thank all of you for your support today. When he sees it all, he will appreciate it. He loves this place, and he loves 99% of its' inhabitants. I will mash it into his thick skull to let go of the remaining 1%.

Give him a few days. You will have your AWD back again soon. If for no other reason, it'll keep him off my back.

Thanks for listening,
Sue

1. I wished Jeff luck earlier...
...and I share those wishes with you, too!

I'm glad he's staying - he's definitely an asset to us.

6. He'll do great. He always shows such strength and
enthusiasm.
This is just a passing shower.
People in DU are getting carried away with this situation.
Wishing you the best.

Your husband deserves our support and acknowledgement for his MANY acts of activism.

You deserve our thanks for being his support and parter.

There are no shortage of people who will tear you down and take swipes at you...even here...but you are correct...they really ARE outnumbered.

Hugs and well wishes to both of you.

5. Thanks for posting, Sue...
:hi:
Believe me, I understand the stress he (and you) are under. (I'm the wife of the other DU Congressional candidate.) Perhaps a break is a good thing -- it can be draining dealing with the idiots who screw it up for the rest of us...

We look forward to having him back! (And Jeff says you've been lurking for awhile, but welcome to DU anyway!)

10. I had to work my 12-hour shifts this weekend
and did not get to follow the DU threads as closely as I would like. Apparently I missed something. Did AWD experience traumatic posts?

I had a real difficult time last weekend tolerating flame bait posting and intrusive, swooping freeper abuse and dean attacks. Did AWD reach a threashold? If so, tell him "space" really helps one re-group. I'm back:)

You or AWD can PM me if you like. I totally look forward to helping him with his campaign.

24. I went back and caught up on the issue.
Working nights suck..... anyways.....Jeff has to stay. I think the new rules trial can bring ehlightenment to the sincere DU'ers.

Jeff is inspirational and a brave leader. I admire his tenacity.

Some folks are miserable with their own life...they never deal with their issues and tend to contaminate their social enviroment. Such behavior is reflective in hateful posts. They can't contain the anger and displace it all over the place!

DU is an open format where we have to try and deflect. I know it is difficult as I just went throught it last week here. AWD was a positve supporter and assisted me to successfully process. Iwish to thank him again! I hope I can be of assistance to you and your family. Just let me know.

what you said. I can still hear him chuckling in the next room. He wanted me to say "Will who?".

Oh, by the way, 120 dollars worth of campaign donations arrived today. I told him he should have a tantrum/fundraiser everyday.

Just kidding.

15. Please tell him I just put two on that thread on ignore.
I have made a decision about this place. I have been here over a year, tried never to be insulting. I never used the ignore feature, and I never felt the need.

A couple of months ago this board was sort of hijacked by some folks who use the tactics of the right wingers. They do not care who they attack and insult.

I have decided I have a right to be here, and I have decided the Ignore feature will have to be used. If I avoid the front page, just come straight to the forums, I miss most of the ugly threads from them.

Tell him we understand so much. I am proud this is place where people like Jerald and AWD can come to push their campaigns.

Some here keep saying well this is how politics is, the attacking and bashing. I disagree. It is not this bad on the TV, or in the print media. The bashing here is painful because it is where we should come together.

Some came here to promote one candidate at any cost. It has hurt this board. Tell him not to get discouraged, but I know he will. It has become painful.

Who'd DARE take a cheap shot at our man AWD, especially around here!

CHRYSLIN, we think the world of your hubby--his guts, his resolve, his temperment in spite of all the threats and things people have hurled at you all for him standing up for what's right. Many, MANY of us would like to be able to say we could demonstrate the amazing fortitude that Jeff has. Let there be no mistake--we DUers are PROUD to call AWD--and you--one of our own, and; indeed, very GRATEFUL to be able to do so as well.

All I can say is:

STICK WITH IT, AWD--we're there for, and with, you!!!:kick:

B-)

20. Didn't take part in the free-for-all, but
just wanted to say I hope your daughter is doing better. I think he made a good choice to play with her today.

Good luck with the mayoral and your husband's campaign. As a fellow Ohioan I know how important it is to take our state back from the 'thugs. Unfortunately, when I was with a bunch of friends from the Canton area last weekend, I discovered that they are maintaining willful ignorance of what the RNC is all about and have remained registered Repubs. Urgh! These are generally intelligent people! It's so damned frustrating! (But I'M painted the jerk for talking politics...)

I'll do what I can to get Jeff's message out to them, and if you'll pass on problems with the incumbent I will forward those as well. If the district covers Wadsworth (Medina County) I'll bring it up with my sister and her family too. Word of mouth can go a long way.

BTW - one of my favorite Carrie Fisher quotes. I completely identify with that one.

So why don't you spend more time here? Oh, let me guess. You can't get Jeff off the damn computer.

I'm glad to hear that he's doing good. I understand where's he's coming from, I think. At a peace rally, he expects insults from the freepers. But here, he didn't expect it at all, and it threw him. I can see that. It's like the first time you realize your parents or older brother or sister isn't perfect, that they have weaknesses and can even be assholes at times. You've looked up to them for so long that it takes you by surprise. There are assholes here, too. But they are a minority.

Give Jeff my best.

22. Thanks
We're doing another peace rally on Saturday.

Personally, I think he timed it to coincide with Ohio State's week off. The one week I don't have to worry about him yelling atthe TV, and now I have to worry about him yelling atright-wingers.

But he knows he can't do it all. He needs help with it, and he knows it. As long as he gets say over the updates, he'll be happy.

Go ahead and offer. DEMActivist was the architect, but she's busy with BBV (more power to her). I'll smack him until he lets you help.
