Don't ask me why, but I love this show. I just don't understand why they need the "fake" drama of always being worried they aren't going to get a bike done in time. Paul Sr. provides enough drama just being him.

6. They live near me.............

basically its a Discovery Channel theme. In fact they brought the police bike to Conn. for the officers funeral that was shot & killed by a deranged ex-correction officer last week. They found out he was a big fan of the show. They apparently know that fame is fleeting and got into marketing a lot of stuff, so much so they have had to hire lots of people and move to 2 new locations. The merchandise is making them more money than building bikes, so they can afford to be generous and they are locally.

9. I've watched ...

... most of those "men building machine" shows, and I enjoyed them all for a while.

I don't watch AC any more, because the only thing different about each episode is the bike. The "personalities" and their "conflicts" become a bore after a while. I can identify with many of them (except Mikey :)) but I get tired of the "can we make it, can we make it" line, it reminds me of when I used to work at companies and that was their only management trick - give you a crazy deadline and watch you sweat.

I watched American Hot Rod until they had an episode where they hired a new kid and then him and Bluebeard (mostly BB) started going at it 24/7. They wound up firing the kid for a made-up offense when they should have told Bluebeard to get his shit and get out. I haven't watched it since - because IMHO if you are going to do "reality TV" there needs to be SOME reality in it. In any real company, things would be a lot different.

Now I'm watching "Biker Build-Off", but it's looking like it will have a 5 episode shelf life for me also. And "Monster Garage" is just silly :)

and full of himself. Movie star, yeah right. My husband still enjoys Orange county choppers though.

Discovery, History, and TLC (all the same network, right?) have been horrible for the past year or so.

17. Gotta switch to PBS - Nova or National Geographic.........

I like having TV for company, but like having company I want to learn something from them. I rarely watch the news anymore, except local. I certainly don't watch TV to be entertained. Most time the tube is on and I'm doing my e-mails or other home work.

because Sr. and Jr. remind me of my uncle and cousin. They used to have a business together, and they carried on just like these guys.

19. Paul Sr. Acts Tough, But He's Really a Pussycat

As evidence of this, look at the episodes where they built the chopper for Santa, and the way Paul Sr. reacted to the kids. Or when the built the chopper to honor New York firefighters. Or when they went to Daytona Beach for Bike Week, and made a special trip to an ARC Center to spend some time with a mentally-challenged fan. Or when he gave Paul Jr. a bike, and got all misty-eyed in the process.

He may be hard-nosed, but deep down inside Paul Sr. has a HUGE heart.
