Joe Buck is the man
I think he is a great football announcer, and I love listening to him announce baseball as well.

Discuss.

Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 08:20 AM by Bill Lumbergh
Howie Long knows it.

Terry Bradshaw knows it

Aikman knows it.

Collinsworth knows it.

Buck knows it.

And I know it.

THERE IS NO I in TEAM, RANDY MOSS.

We could have beat your ass if we had played you guys this year. ;)

But it does not matter. You guys will not get past Philadelphia.

Your season ends next Sunday.

Just wondering, which team do you play for, and what position? Yes, Randy moss is something, but did you know that it's a longstanding tradition for Green Bay players to moon the Vikings player's bus when they leave Lambeau Field? Anyone who's a Yankee's fan shouldn't really be talking about another team's players anyway.

4. discuss? I think you're full of sh*t
he whored for the yankees the past few years in the playoffs, couldn't stop mentioning "the curse" every time something that was just a regular part of the game happened to the red sox, and couldn't string two words together when the red sox beat the yankees. he's a piss-poor announcer whose bias is more apparent than many fans...

Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 08:23 AM by Bill Lumbergh
They are my favorite team.

I never thought about that aspect.

Maybe that's why I like Joe Buck so much. :)

In all seriousness, I never thought there was a curse. That was just an excuse some Boston fans made for doing so poorly in the postseason up until this year.

Here's to next year, and the Yankees beating the Red Sox in 5 in the ALCS.

Johnson > Schilling
Mussina > Wells
Pavano > Clement
Wright > Miller
Brown tied with Arroyo

23. ok
I never mentioned anything about ghosts. I don't believe in the ghosts/curse bullshit.

26-5. :)

Yankees have won 26 in the last 85 years. Sox have won 1.

The Yankees will make it 27 next year. Your pitching is not as good as ours this year. Wells is old. He has a bad back, and he is 25 pounds overweight. He will get injured.

Same with Schilling. He'll miss April and the Yankees will build up a 5 or 6 game lead by the time he gets back. And Schilling is no Randy Johnson. Randy Johnson pitched game 5 of the 2001 ALCS and then pitched game 7 in RELIEF of Schilling.

Clement is decent but he is no Pavano.

Miller is good but he is no Jaret Wright.

Arroyo is good but IF Kevin Brown is healthy he is one of the premiere pitchers in baseball. In 2003 he had an era around 2.40. Last year he was injured and had arm and hand problems. This year he is doing much better.

Our bullpen is also better with the addition of Stanton, F-Rod, and Karsay. With these guys we will be able to rest Gordon more and he will be the ace that we know he is. Same with Rivera.

20. No doubt it helped,
just like it helped Patrick Kennedy to have his surname when going into politics.

But let's be consistent here.

If Joe Buck really sucked as an announcer as you claim he does, he wouldn't have been doing this for more than 10 years.

He doesn't suck as an announcer. You may dislike how he kisses up to the Yankees or whatever, but he is a good announcer and Fox pulls good ratings on Joe Buck's shows.

21. another unwarranted assumption: just because joe buck has been
doing it for 10 years, it doesn't logically follow that he isn't a horrible announcer. there are plenty of people on TV who are not particularly good at what they do, yet they have long careers (carrot-top comes to mind). and fox is full of shitty programming, so that really undercuts the rest of your argument.

you said "I guess you didn't watch the World Series on Fox. Because Joe Bucks sucks so much. I guess you listened to it on the radio." your last sentence does not logically follow from either of your previous 2 statements, and you totally disregard the real reason that i watched the world series on fox: I had no other options as fox was the ONLY channel that televised. please try and make your arguments logically follow your premises; obfuscating the issue only wastes my time and yours.

58. A classic comment from somebody
who doesn't have any idea what he's talking about. Randy Moss suffers from what I term "negative eloquence." Most of his antics are fairly picayune but when he tries to do damage control it almost inevitably winds up making the situation worse. I know it really wouldn't be worth the trip to Mankato for you, but Randy Moss is very caring and considerate to the fans at training camp--well, really just the kids, you can tell he's fed up with a lot of the adults. There's one diasbled little boy in particular who would disagree strongly with anybody calling Randy "classless."

And for the record, those assholes in Lambeau had that coming to them. A group of cheeseheads makes it a point to moon the Vikings team bus after every Vikings game at Lambeau and you really need to see the signs and hear the jeers that get directed towards Randy Moss before you can make any judgements.

And did anybosy else notice how similar FOX sprts are to FOX news--the personalities are handed a script and they all hit the talking points.

Joe Buck can kiss my unwashed ASS.

66. He seems to know baseball well
but I don't think he offers that much to the listener. He's more concerned with turning a phrase than calling a game. I'm just not a huge fan of his style, which seems to involve fitting the game to the storyline in the morning papers rather than allowing it to develop on its own. As a football announcer I don't care for him at all.
