Anyone here familiar with Michigan Tech?
Are there any MTU alumni here? Tell me about it. Would it make a good choice for graduate school in computer science?

1. Our elder son gets literature from there all the time.
From what I can glean....it's in the middle of nowhere. Seriously, in a very remote part of the UP. It would take around 10 hours to drive there, at least....and get this........about 8 hours to fly there at a cost of around $400.

Subzero temps, 8 feet of snow.......eeks. I like Winter as much as the next Midwesterner...but it's pretty extreme up there.

I have no idea about studying there. Our son is interested in Mechanical Eng and his grades aren't quite up to snuff. I'm not sure why they keep sending him stuff.

How ya doin'? :hi:

3. Sorry. I should have been clearer for everyone else.
I know that "Ellen", like me, is from Chicago.

4. It's a good school
and I'm not familiar with it's computer science program, but I know it has a good reputation in most engineering fields.

It's located in Houghton, MI, which as the other poster said, is a bit out of the way. It snows a lot and the town and student body is probably somewhat conservative (Houghton went for Bush by 56%).
