Man fires at son after 'Bama loss
http://www.msnbc.com/local/WPMI/D-F5B9130F-7A51-4AF9-9843-D378744FCCA0.asp?0na=x22018F0-

"September 30, 2003 - A Pinson man was charged with attempted murder for holding a gun to his son's head and pulling the trigger in the midst of a tantrum after Alabama's double overtime loss to Arkansas Saturday.

The bullet narrowly missed 20-year-old Seth Logan, who said he picked the wrong time to ask his dad for a car, sheriff's spokesman Deputy Randy Christian said Monday.

According to the police report, Joseph Logan had been drinking alcohol and began slamming doors, tossing boxes and throwing dishes in the sink after the Crimson Tide lost its football game to Arkansas, 34-31 in double overtime Saturday.
While Joseph Logan was throwing the tantrum, Seth Logan asked for a new car."

By god, you can say a lot of things about us Alabamians, but DON'T NEVER say we ain't serious about our football!
And maybe Seth could have picked a leetle more auspicious moment to broach the subject of new wheels?
;-)

1. Sounds like Austin a couple of weeks ago
UT lost to Arkansas and there were UT fans hanging themselves from the lightposts from one side of town to another.

Blame Arkansas. :)

4. Why is it that...
... in these sorts of stories, the caliber of the weapon is invariably a number larger than the IQ of the person wielding it? :P

9. If he would have been, his old man wouldn't have missed.
Most intense rivalry in college ball, bar none.
This guy is obviously not all there. If a team I'm rooting for loses I'm over it in about one minute.

10. Well when my team loses
it takes me about an hour to get over it, if it is a championship game, I can't get over it for like a week, what can I say? I am into sports, but I would NEVER EVER go this far, some people actually do take sports too seriously.

6. I think that, given this dad's tendencies, any time would have been
a bad time to ask for a new car.

7. I hate this
I am a big sports fan, I get emotionally involved into the game but I don't take fucking sports that fucking serious. Anyways what did he expect? Arkansas was the better team and Alabama lost to NIU last week, and people tell me I take sports too seriously, well no, I would never do this. I also posted an article awhile back which stated that a Giants fan shot a Dodgers fan.

8. We really need to replace sports with music in educational institutions
I've never ONCE seen anyone become violent at a recital and music actually improves sections of the brain whereas football causes head injuries.

If only OJ had played piano.

13. I think I'll just put up some signs
at the interstate entrances to my fair state.
Something like "WARNING: We have some seriously stupid and unbalanced folks living here so PROCEED WITH CAUTION!"
