Does DU give out Cookies?

I just got a memo from work,that they are going to be keeping a

closer eye on people who are on the internet while at work.They said

beware of websites that give cookies.Is there anyway to erase the

cookies and your tracks of where you have been?I am glued to DU

since the election and still have much work to do while I am at work.

In the Tools menu under Internet Options, there is a button to delete cookies.

On edit: You can also clear the history there. This does not necessarily mean that you are safe. Some companies can log your key strokes.

7. I just tried it and then i had to log back in to DU

5. Lots of ways, but what's the problem?

I'm not sure what your problem is. I gather that your company lets you browse on the web (unlike many others) but wants to maintain a higher level of privacy from 3rd parties.

Cookies are small text files that reside on YOUR computer to help keep track of your preferences, etc.

SOME cookies are used to track information from website to website, so it WOULD be possible for an outside party to find out which SERIES of websites you visited, and in what order, but that's about the limit of the info such 'tracking' cookies can keep.

I'm assuming you're using MS IE, (you SHOULD use Firefox, MUCH more secure). There's an option under "tools->options which allows you to delete all your cookies. Do it everyday and you should be pretty good.

There are lots of 3rd party programs that help you automatically erase, block and even edit your cookies...

Using Firefox, however, it handles cookies very well and that's the best overall suggestion...

my company does let us browse and yes they do want to maintain security level.

I will be careful not to have sites remember my info.
