My grandma's having open heart surgery.

She's probably on the operating table now. She's getting her mitral valve replaced with a pig valve and a bypass done. She had a heart attack saturday night.

She was on a heart pump or something for a while, and they wanted to see if she could stabilize for 24 hours off of it before they did the surgery because they said if she could there'd be an 80-85% chance of recovery...but if she couldn't they'd have to do the surgery sooner and there'd only be a 30-35% chance.

It turns out she was pretty stable for the 24 hour period, so I have reason to believe things will go pretty well, still it is hard. I stayed home from work today, and (hopefully) it will be hours before I know how things went.

I know I can be real abrasive and confrontative with people here, so I really thank you for taking the time to read this despite all that.
