I'm pretty suprised, since a lot of the metal people I know are freeper types.

But I love old Metallica. And Megadeth. And some Slayer. But In Flames is probably my favorite metal band.

Metal and the Christian Right didn't have a chance until Christian metal showed up, and proceeded to suck. *cough* Stryper *cough*

Lots of metal songs, if not about kicking someone's ass, are typically anti-war.

Freeper types would like to ban Metal.

So many of the themes of Metal are about the corruption in politics, anti-Nuke stuff, Graphic war description, social commentary and the like. It's not all Death and Satan.
