Nope. There are some things I want to experience in this life despite hearing about them, but drugs are NOT that sort of thing I'd want to try.

Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 06:47 PM by thebigidea
I think I exude chemicals that are illegal in 15 states, banned in 243 countries.

Who's that at the end of the hallway... with a lantern and a bright white light... gasp - God... no? Tommy Chong? MR. Ashcroft, what are you doing with that chain?

11. Ummmm, Yes, under the proper circumstances
If it were regulated, and you were sure you weren't getting a bad dose, there are several things I'd like to experience, but wouldn't risk the chance of getting incarcerated/getting a bad lot.

Nothing too hard, but a few things that will alter my view of reality for a while. I wouldn't be interested in anything that just "makes you feel good", but would be interested in a few things that make you see the world differently: Pot (ahem), mushrooms, LSD (*maybe*) and peyote (*maybe*).

IMO, drugs, when used properly and *sparingly* might actually be very good for you.

13. Not all drugs are the same.
I agree with what you say when it comes to heroin. It's not worth it to even try one time, legal or not. In fact, I don't consider the law at all when I make decisions about drugs. Some are fun to try once or twice under controlled circumstances. Some are fun to use more regularly, if that works for you. Some are best to never even try once. It doesn't depend on their legal status. It depends on their nature, and they are all different and effect each person differently. I don't like blanket statements about drugs.

21. Already smoke pot
I prefer it to alcohol. It is safe and probably not contaminated with anything else without your knowledge because it is green, relatively cheap and has lower penalties if the dealer gets caught than other drugs. I wanted to try shrooms. My best friend does not think that they would be good for me though since I have a sensitive stomach and have panic attacks sometimes. I would not want to try cocaine or LSD because I know that I'd probably have a panic attack and in the case of LSD, a very long panic attack.

25. I'd recommend trying pot to anyone
I'm not saying that everyone should become regular pot smokers. I am saying that it is a safe experience and that is positive for most people. The first time I tried pot was the best feeling drug experience that I had ever had. It was much better than being drunk or feeling different from various perscription drugs that I had been perscribed. I feel that it helps be more empathetic and relaxed around other people. It also helps me think about things differently. It is stigmatized because it is illegal. There really is no harm in trying it once provided you are in a safe environment, doing non dangerous other activites.

26. Heroin is shit
You get one high, the first time you use it. Then the next injections only make you feel normal. So you're under the heroin curse forever, unless you go into a strait-jacket in a padded room for a few days to exorcise those demons. *Shudder*

Cocaine just seems scary to me, the snorting stuff. I don't want it.

PCP just makes you crazy, no please. No thanks.

LSD, probably. But I'd make sure it was absolutely safe and small, so I don't lose my power of concentration and focus.

Takes weeks of regular use for tolerance and addiction to develop. You should get your information from somewhere BESIDES DEA propaganda.

39. Heroin still a shitty high
And I do mean "shitty." Between the shitting and the puking, you feel like a really groovy zombie.

Shitting and puking are two side effects of this drug that the DEA should carp more on. Addictive? Yeah, yeah whatever. Dangerous? So's crossing the street. All day shitting and puking? Uhm, maybe I'll reconsider my choice of drugs.

47. You're right about the puking. However, all opiods make you
constipated as hell. Shitting is not a natural consequence of the drug, it's a major undertaking.A junkie going over a week without a bowel movement is not uncommon.

43. No need to be snippy
Even if that were true, I can't think of any reasons why anybody would want to experiment with heroin, when it's downsides are so great.

46. Ther downside is addiction, true.
But many things are addictive. The only reason the associated risks of heroin addiction are so great is because it's illegal. Which means that the purity and strength of street heroin is highly variable, hence the overdoses and other problems. Most of the problems of heroin addiction come from not being able to get it...an addict can function quite well as long as he receives a consistent supply of standardised purity, with no ill effects, no organic damage, no serious health problems (aside from needing heroin to function normally, that is). Surprisingly enough, opiates, even though addictive, are among the least physiologically harmful drugs for long-term use. (And, for the record, I've never done heroin, and don't advocate its use...I'm just doing my part to dispel ignorance.)

28. who waits?
If you don't want to try drugs, you won't suddenly try them just because they are legal. Everyone who wants to try drugs has already tried drugs...they are not exactly difficult to get! It would be nice if they were legal and standardized so people would have more control over what they were taking but it ain't gonna happen.

i wasn't always purple, i blame the drugs

30. I don't know about that
I think that my sister thinks less of pot because it is illegal and she is terrified that she would be randomly tested for her job. Some people have a fear of doing illegal things or drug testing. As far as availability, I'd say that is true for the most part. Some of us clean cut, nerdy types might have some trouble making connections. At least in rural areas, it is all about connections. Some people might be unable to make these connections.

I'll go back to Pot in the proverbial New York Minute. And I never had a bad acid trip (2 125 mcg tabs of READ Sandoz LSD 25 is positively spiritual), Peyote was magic, and Mushrooms was like being in love for the first time every time.

Hell, yes I'd use drugs again. I know better than any shrink what killed the "ID" demons from my childhood and cured my ulcers better than Zoloft or Prilosec ever has.

When it comes to MJ and acid, if you aren't willing to risk anything for a good mind-altering experience, you shouldn't be entitled to one.
