A BBC Radio 4 producer who's working on a documentary about people who've left the religion they were brought up in saw an essay on my Web site, "Why I Am Not a Jew" (
http://www.dvorkin.com/essays/yinotjew.htm), and e-mailed me to ask if I'd be willing to be interviewed for the documentary.
This morning, she called and we talked for about 20 minutes. Then she spoke to my wife for another 20 minutes about her loss of religion. All of this is preliminary. They're obviously winnowing out candidates to see whom they'll actually use in the final documentary. She said she'd e-mail me in a month or so to let me know if they want to use either or both of us.
So nothing may come of this in the end, but it was neat, nonetheless. Not to mention, a nice break from hunting for work.
After she e-mailed, I kept telling myself to remember to say something about my novels. Think of the potential publicity! Then she called, and we spoke for that long, and I forgot to say single word about my books. Aargh!
