We have the radio playing at work, which doesn't strike me as particularly work enhancing....I sing along/hum to most of the songs, am becoming way too familiar with lite Josh Groban-y/Celine Dion remake-y songs...

but it makes work more relaxed and it's fun to shake your hips a bit.

The radio's in there too, so I was singing it on the way in, and being right next to the radio with the volume up, it was absolutely natural to shake my moneymaker.

but having had attended a few Dead shows I'll try to explain it.

the concert goers are squeezed together- not much room to move-
your under the influence and in a zone. you kinda just close your eyes your body begins to sway gently to the music. you shuffle your feet a little moving a half inch in one direction then back to the middle, a half in in the other direction and you've got it.

28. I guess my experience was very different, in some senses.

Plenty of room, stadium venue. WAY under the influence. Close eyes, start swaying, swirling swinging arms. Any move was a good move and nobody cared or critiqued your dancing. Think the spacier dancers in any Woodstock documentary.

It was very loose, happy, fun and free.

29. Its a very big thing in some circles right now.

The Sulu Dance is a bit of urban pop culture.
I believe it started as a gag on the Howard Stern show, but has taken off in the club and bar scene in NY. The song is sung to the tune of Men At Work's You can dance if you want to. Throughout the song George Takai(sp) who played Sulu on Star Trek, voices over the music in a very funny way. Club goers have created dance steps for this. It is still very underground, but enormously popular in the club scene. They call it the "Sulu Dance."
