My Cockerspaniels

are now 16 and 17 years old they still act like puppies. Last night my one cocker wanted on the bed at 7:45, she can't get up there without help, so I helped. I turned the lights off, she sat on the bed and barked and barked. I think she wanted us (my 17 yrs. old cocker and I to come to bed, no way, I wanted to at least listen to Mike for the first hour, she finally joined us here near my computer. Then she fell asleep on her pillow on the livingroom floor, so when it was time for me to go to bed I almost had to drag her outside to do her duty. I'm not sure if my cocoa who wanted me in bed early is all there, sometimes she just stands in the middle of the floor and looks confused. Dementia in dogs? The other cocker who always loved balls can't seem to catch it like before. I can throw the ball, but it is not like it is not there. I think he is going blind.

When is it time for us to put our pets to sleep?

2. My life is going to be so empty

without them. They are just holding on. They just sleep and sleep and sleep. When I take my one senior for a walk, we walk a half a block, then she is carried home unless I would drag her, no way, I will carry her. My other cocker can walk two blocks and return, them that is it for him. He is ready to sleep for hours. At night when we go to bed, they have their special spots on the bed, in the morning when I wake, they are cuddled up to me on each side leaving me no space to move My little darlings.

Their groomer has a difficult time with them, not because of their behavior but because of the many warts Cockerspaniels receive with age, she is afraid she will hurt them, their bodies are filled with warts.

My dogs are living beyond their age expectation although I have a friend who has a cocker that is 18 yrs. old.
