Should I try to get him back? Should he be allowed to live his natural life without interference from his past life relatives? Should I have a human to weasel conversation with him regarding his current lot in life?
So many questions.

Think about why your Grandfater was a weasel and question if you want to allow a SOB in your and your Kid's life?
You can, but it would be much easier if you explained the circumstances when they ask as it happens rather than try to lie about anything.
