Remember Hanan Saleh Matrud! A little girl shot dead by coalition troops.

The report, titled "Iraq: Killings of Civilians in Basra and Al-Amara," also criticized UK authorities for failing to conduct investigations into the killings of civilians, citing the case of the death of 8-year-old Hanan Saleh Matrud last August near Basra as an example. Saleh stood with other children about 70 meters from a British armored vehicle that stopped near the entrance of the alley which leads to her home. According to eyewitness Mizher Jaber Yassin, a soldier aimed and fired a shot which hit Hanan in her lower torso. She died the following day.

2. When I first saw the story I resolved to not let her be forgotten!
That was months ago. I refresh the story regularly on my own forum. They shot this child like a dog!

9. "We don’t know if she liked cartoons or enjoyed playing hopscotch."
"The dead eight year old Iraqi girl doesn’t have a biography.
We don’t know if she liked cartoons or enjoyed playing hopscotch.
Do they even play hopscotch in Iraq?
Probably not.
Bloody barbarians."

3. Bless that poor girl
In the meantime, share this with anyone who still feels the invasion was justified:

5. Thank you, and please, please, don't let Hanan be forgotten!
The thousands of anonymous children killed are easily swept out of the RW mind like so much dust, but that tiny face should be remembered!

10. What price was that beautiful child's life worth?
"The Army has paid out £390 to the family of an eight-year-old Iraqi girl who was killed after being hit by a bullet fired by a British soldier, The Independent on Sunday can reveal.
Hanan Saleh Matrud died in an alleyway near her home in northern Basra after a British soldier with the King's Regiment opened fire nearby. The ricocheting bullet left a deep wound across her stomach, and she later died in hospital.
The soldiers claim they fired a warning shot in the air after being targeted by "heavy stone-throwing" by mobs. Local eyewitnesses dispute the claim, and allege that only children were in the streets.
The Army admitted the shot "possibly" caused her injury and paid her parents $700, but without admitting responsibility for her death. Defence ministers claim such unofficial payments were set after consulting local Iraqi judges, but admit the scheme is now being overhauled.

sputtering that freedom isn't free or that to make an omlet you've gotta crack a few eggs.........

But this is tragic. It really puts a face on the atrocities that are going on over there for the benefit of big oil.
