I have just about lost faith in humanity...
Of course it wouldn't be the first time. Hopefully ten days exploring natures wonders will recharge me.

Since I will be missing the coronation, please, each of you flip an extra bird juniors way for me next Thursday.

8. That reminds me of a fucked up story I caught on the radio the other day
I heard that somewhere, in the Caymans I think, a guy is building an underwater hotel right on/next to a reef so that lazy fucks can see the fish and the reef without diving.

I really wish there was a sane planet to move to, just being in a blue state doesnt really cut it anymore.

I completely understand how you feel and although we didn't set out to plan this vacation to avoid the coronation, I am SO glad we will be missing it.

11. Greatest discovery of the 21st Century?
The human race discovers that it is too dumb to survive.

12. That is really my fear
I had started to regain hope during the 90s but boy was that fleeting

Sometimes the only thing I can take comfort in is that the planet would clearly be better off if we destroyed ourselves.

15. tk2kewl: While my comment about the human race discovering
that it was too dumb to survive may have seemed totally nihilistic,
I should also say the the human race possesses a huge amount of talent for survival. Our problem, in my opinion, is that with our intellectual ability to conceptualize totally abstract concepts, we have allowed ourselves to begin to fancy ourselves as gods, capable of doing anything that we can imagine. In effect, a dreamland of denial. It has become pandemic. It's as though we are in some sort of drug induced fog that disallows us from using our cognitive skill objectively.

You said that the Planet would be "better off" with us gone. I don't agree with that simply because I don't recognize terms such as "better not" or "worse off" as it relates to the status of Planet Earth. I believe that all in eternally evolving as entity after entity
react to their contexts. If humans become extinct, it will only mean that as they interfaced with their context, their survival capabilities were not strong enough to overcome the challenges they faced. The Republicans are in power now because something about the context favored their attributes.

What would humanity be without the strength of spirit to persist through such trying times?
