One thing about Telemarketers/Don't Call List I don't understand.

We (Government) set up a "Don't Call" list....
....which means that the people that sign-up for the service don't want to be called.
It ALSO means the the people who have signed-up certainly don't want to buy anything on the phone.

Now, if I were running a business, I would say to myself "Well, there's 120 million people I can call BUT I know that 50 million people are not going to buy any of my products (services) so there's no reason to call that 50 million people....
...SO...This is a good thing....I don't have to waste my employees time calling folks who have an almost zero chance of buying something"

So my question is, Fellow DU's...Why in the Hell do the telemarketers want to STILL call these 50 million....
I don't get it....it just seems a waste of time.

1. Everybody says they hate telemarketers

but there are idiots out there who buy from them anyway. Oh, and they also like to trick people into buying so those 50 million could still be a good target for that as well.

2. because they are committing fraud

Most of the people who buy from cold callers are elderly people or who have some other reason for suffering from confusion. No one in her right mind gives out her credit card information to a stranger over the phone.

In other words, a telemarketer is a con artist. I have a friend who was very successful in this industry, and it is an industry only in the sense that being a pickpocket or a paid hit man is an industry. They sell you a product with no value, such as "credit card insurance" against losing your job, to a senior citizen or a self-employed person who has no job. Or they tell you you've won a "free" airline ticket if you buy such-and-such greatly inflated hotel room. See? They are stealing. And thieves are never satisfied. Enough is never enough. They want to be able to open all homes and loot through everyone's jewelry box.

There is nothing deep or mysterious here.


how about you spend $100 on some cleaning products and i'll guarantee to donate 2 cents to the state police widows and orphans fund
