my volume level is always left on high for when I play my music so when I'm surfing and come across a site with music, it always scares the shit out of me. If I can't find a way to turn it off, I leave the site. You should atleast have the option of turning the music off.

Fortunately I don't have speakers at work, but I keep hearing bad MIDI renditions of Broadway Tunes going off every couple of days from cubicles far, far away.

7. Absolutely rude...and a sign of beginner-level web design. |

Nothing worse than having someone else's bad taste in MIDI forced into your brain because they think it's 'so cool I can put music on my page...wow.'
They usually have poor taste in fonts and colors, too...but I can deal with that.

I'm usually doing my surreptitious web-surfing late at night. Nothing like a really loud ebay auction to wake up everybody in the house and start yelling at me for still being up and waking them up.

Web accessability guidlines tell you not to put music on the sites. The big problem being people that use screen readers. They get to that site and they cannot hear the reader or the music blows out their ears
