Dylan doesn't need to have a good voice. Now someone like Barbra Streisand doesn't really have to have good lyrics because she has the voice of a Democratic angel. Stevie Ray Vaughan didn't have to have great lyrics or a great voice, because he killed when he played guitar.

I got to work his show about 2 years ago. It felt a little strange standing right next to the guy. I'm usually not "star struck", but that one almost did me in.

9. Long story

My buddy was doing security for extra cash and when the Stones came to town he asked if I wanted to work the show. Our bass player in our band joined along. It was just to go see the Stones for free. Well, we were new so they told us we had to work behind the stage. The head of security for the Stones called us three together and told us we were going to work under their supervision that night. It was funny. We had to guard Mick as he took a leak, and we stood behind stage all night and guarded the Stones.
So a month or two later Dylan was coming to Kent State and my buddy, knowing I did Dylan asked if I wanted to work that show also. When we got there they told us we could work the sides of the stage. My buddy didn't feel like walking to the other side so he told me to go there. When I got there I realized I was on the side the band came up on. His security guy filled me in on the details and I worked the show. It was just wild standing next to the guy.
They both made for good stories and this is obviously the whittled down version.

beginning. My dad used to bring the new albums home as they were released. So I grew up on Dylan music. It's like the music for my entire lifetime.

24. One of my best concert memories...

... was seeing Dylan right about the time 'Saved' came out, half-fearing that we were in for a gospel session or something.

Well, when he opened with 'Like a Rolling Stone,' the place went WILD, as you can imagine.

And when he got to "How does it feeeeeel?" and they threw on the house lights -- what a scene! Bright as daylight, and a sea of fans just jumping up and down, standing on our seats, screaming our heads off.

It was great! :)
