I quit my job today (after 6 years) Followup
This is a followup to this post I made this morning:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=242507

The General Manager just called and said that they'd accept my resignation. I didn't quit. They didn't fire me. He said that it was my resignation. The Kitchen manager had been wanting to make some changes to the way things are there, and this is his opportunity to do so.
The good news is I can get a few letters of recommendation from people there, so I can pick and choose the one that I'm going to use.
First time I've switched jobs in six years.
Here's to the future.

2. This position has obviously is below you..
You now have an excellent opportunity to seek management assignments. Kick it up a notch!

Your insight to the kitchen organization and staff needs are a great plus. You can sell it!!!

Your body was trying to tell ya to leave....acid reflux....

So, one door is finally closed and many more are to open.

:bounce:

3. This will end up being a blessing in disguise
sounds like you'll be glad you're out of there if they'll allow that nutcase to continue the way he is.

Sad thing is.. customers can hear this kind of stuff sometimes coming out of the kitchen.. their reluctance to deal with a problem employee will have more far reaching effects than they realize

good Luck!!

4. Thank you, all.
I appreciate the support you've given me. My friends think this is the best thing to happen to me in a long time.
It feels weird right now.
I have friends there. Friends I'll miss. Friends I enjoyed working alongside.
But now, I have a future.

5. Hey, I just quit my restaurant job of six years!
I quit suddenly three weeks ago. I've never been happier. Sure, I'm broke as all hell, but at least I don't dread getting up every day.

So, like you said, here's to the future! :toast:
