It's January of 2050, where are you?
Well, I know where I'll be. I'll be 85 years old and my son will have me in some ancient nursing home in the middle-of-nowhere, Nebraska, and he'll visit me for two hours every Christmas Eve!

Hopefully, I'll still be able to post on DU, if any of you are still alive and if old people are even still allowed to exist once the repubs have been in control of everything for decades! :P :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

But what if it's a fundie home? You know, We will have no control over where our children put us, and I have a feeling I'll be a cantankerous old bastard, and my daughters will put me in "Jerry Falwell's Touch of Heaven" just to spite me, lol.

If that's the case, I hope I have Alzheimer's so I won't know where I am.

I'll definitely second that, I'd rather have full-blown Alzheimer's than recognize that I'm in a fundie home. Although I'd hate to think that my son would ever put me in a fundie home in the first place!

28. 2060? I'll be 94 years old, fer chrissake!
On my various pharmacy-driving jobs, I've been dealing with the elderly for more than seven years. During that time, I've witnessed just about every example of the ravages of aging. I'd rather be dead than suffering from a lot of what I've seen those poor people dealing with!

That's cool. The nice thing about dying is that no matter how bad things get, you still always inevitably escape.

And being w/o children I get to choose my own nursing home! (It will not be in Nebraska... I'm thinking Hawaii!)

37. I'll be 93 and probably alive - it's in the genes
Of my grandparents, besides my mother's mom the earliest to go was her dad at 88. My dad's dad lived till 95 and his wife till 92. They all died 30 years ago when life expectancies were years less than today. My parents are 85 and 87 and are going strong w/o any living assistance. I have an Uncle who is 95 and an Aunt who is 94 and another who will be 99 in a couple of months. And they all are Dems with very active minds. A couple of more younger Aunts who are in their 80's. Another Uncle of mine died when he was 93 - he killed himself with a rifle.

So unless I get hit by a bus I'll probably be sitting somewhere in 2050 bitching online (or whatever technology exists then) about how George W Bush (officially, in the history books, the 'Worst President Ever' at that point) screwed up Social Security back in '05.

45. I am 66 and have finished my second term as president
I now own and operate a small bookstore. The death penalty has been abolished, marijuana is legal and so is abortion, although the abortion rate is below 100 per year, thanks to new social programs, including National Healthcare. Gays have the all the rights heteros get from the state for marriage, however churchs still have the right to marry anyone or not as their beliefs allow. Missile defense has been shelved for decades. Oil ran out about ten years ago, but thanks to rising oil prices, individuals had strong incentive to innovate, and a viable and ecologically friendly substitute was discovered.

The religious right was discredited after they used their influence to run Roy Moore as the GOP nominee in 2012. Under the direction of President Arnold Schwarzeneggar, the GOP marginalized the fundamentalists and moved back towards the center. This, in turn, allowed Democrats to move left, and the Dems and Green party merged, uniting the left.

74. Running my 100th marathon
at age 95!!!!

But most probably the course will be indoors, CGI and we'll all really be on treadmills that imitate marathon conditions, as global warming and the "clean air act" from 40-some years prior has made the environment hostile to outside athletics...

On a serious note, I aspire to live to be a healthy 100 years old. In the next 45 years, I will do whatever it takes to keep myself in shape and stay away from any pharmeceuticals. Of course, bad shit happens and you can't predict the future, but if it's in my control, I'll do it!

75. I'll be 89 and saving up to buy a '57 Chevy...
2057 that is. I've always wanted a '57 Chevy, and I figure that's one way to get it.
