Dinner with my Freepish Family
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 09:44 PM by Ladyhawk
I decided to go ahead and have dinner with my mother because I figured I could handle her as long as my Rush Limbaugh-loving, Ayn Rand-worshiping brother didn't come along.

Halfway through the meal, he called my mom's cell phone and I could tell what the conversation was about. My mother said, "It's just the news media hyping what he said to make him look like a racist."

I couldn't stay out of this. All I had wanted was a leisurely dinner without discussion of fundamentalist Christianity or ultra right-wing politics.

"Excuse me," I said. "What Rush Limbaugh said was racist. I read the transcripts. Jimmy the Greek got fired for less than that."

Luckily, my mother cut the phone call short, but my appetite was gone.

Sigh. I can't stand to be with my family. Almost always some stupid freep or fundy shit comes up. I thought with just my mom there we could agree not to tread on dangerous ground, then my stupid fascist brother had to call. :(

I can't go anywhere with them. I bow out of family vacations because I know there is no escape.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Sorry, needed to vent.

1. Now you can stun them with tales of drug abuse
in addition to racism. Somethings happening here, what it is, isn't exactly clear,

but some fat pig boy is heading out the door.

4. cut them out of your life
no one needs to be exposed to toxic hate.

Tell them so, and go to a meetup!
you'll find lots of great people
with positive energy.

(snip)

Wilma Cline, 42, says Limbaugh was hooked on the potent prescription drugs OxyContin, Lorcet and hydrocodone - and went through detox twice.

(snip)

Cline told the Enquirer she went to prosecutors with information about Limbaugh and others after four years of drug deals that included clandestine handoffs in a Denny's parking lot.

She said she wore a wire during her last two deliveries to the conservative commentator and gave the tapes to authorities.

She also gave the Enquirer a ledger documenting how many pills she claimed to have bought for him - 4,350 in one 47-day period - and E-mails she claimed Limbaugh sent her.

In one missive, Limbaugh pushed Cline to get more "little blues" - code for OxyContin, the powerful narcotic nicknamed hillbilly heroin, she said.

I just talked to my mom yesterday and asked her what she though of the latest CIA scandal. Her answer, "Wilson already lied about Rove, therefore he can't be trusted". I tried to clarify it for her but she just wouldn't listen. It really pains me when I talk to her, because she is a nice person and is liberal on almost all social issues. She just doesn't realize it because Rush and Faux define "liberal" for her. Of course she doesn't want to be one of those "mean old liberal America hater commies".

I still hold out hope that she'll come around someday. Maybe when it's finally proved that BushCo is rotten to the core, and they're all locked up in Gitmo she'll be softened up enough that I can knock some sense into her.

except it's my in-laws who get ALL THEIR NEWS from Pigboy...

Holidays are the worst I think, that's when all of the gather for "Taunt Big McLargehuge" sessions.

I found that giving as good as I get tends to shorten the sessions. People can only take a reflection of their antisocial behavior for so long before give up. It works for me, and I've grown to enjoy it.

P.S. How are the snakes and bird doing?

It seems she may be softening a bit, thank GOD - because she's raising our son.
